Co-founder Kristy Lockard has instructed obedience school classes in Florida for 35+ years. She has worn many hats for local dog clubs including President, Recording Secretary, Treasurer, Obedience Director, Trial Secretary, DOCOF Team Captain, and has taught all levels of obedience school classes from AKC Star Puppy and Basic Obedience, to Sub-Novice, Open and Utility and problem solving. She is also a United Kennel Club Conformation Judge. She raises Miniature Schnauzers and over the years has earned countless Conformation, Obedience, Agility and Rally titles in several registries including American Kennel Club, United Kennel Club and the Bahamas Kennel Club. Her Miniature Schnauzers have earned conformation titles worldwide. New and advanced exhibitors alike seek out Kristy's advice when they have a problem they can't solve. Kristy's strengths are her vast experience and problem solving abilities. She continues to show her miniature schnauzers in
conformation and obedience in multiple registries.
Co-founder Dawn Kennedy has 15 years experience training, instructing and exhibiting in competition obedience. She has also worn many hats for the various local
clubs and schools. She has been Vice-President, Treasurer, Trial Chairman, DOCOF Team Captain, and instructed
all levels of obedience school classes. Her very first obedience dog was homebred, nationally ranked and obtained her
OTCh (Obedience Trial Championship). Her very first conformation show dog earned his Championship in
AKC, UKC, and Canada, along with obedience titles in all 3 registries. She has trained and shown shelties and smooth collies in obedience and conformation
in multiple registries and countries. She currently has an All-American (mixed breed) that she adopted from
rescue who appears to have strong Rat Terrier and Chinese Crested behind her. She also has a 4th generation sheltie from
her own kennel who has conformation and obedience titles in two registries.
Instructor and obedience school consultant Joan Levy has 28 years experience in dog training
and instructing others. She owned and ran First Class Dog Training School
in New Port Richey, FL for 14 years.
Her school was beloved among advanced obedience trainers and
her experience invaluable to new and advanced handlers alike. Many handlers who have trained
under Joan have gone on to earn various championships and national rankings in competition.
She is truly an icon among Florida dog trainers. Joan
has served the dog training community in West Central Florida
in many different capacities at trials, shows and various dog related events.
She is Director of the therapy dog group Pets Add Life for the past 25 years.
Joan has Shih Tzu's and Belgian Sheepdogs that have earned titles in conformation
and obedience in several registries. She
also has experience training and showing Chihuahuas, Cocker Spaniels, Standard
Poodles and Dobermans. We are very fortunate to have Joan Levy on our team. Joan currently has
a Shih Tzu and a Belgian Sheepdog working in advanced obedience.
Kris worked for 17 years at an Animal Hospital as a Veterinary Technician
and at an Emergency Animal Hospital. She is experienced in instructing
at all levels of Dog Obedience Training Classes from Puppy Kindergarten
through Utility. Kris has been competing in Competition Conformation and
Obedience with her nationally ranked dogs for over 22 years.
She has owned, raised, trained and exhibited 3 different breeds of dogs,
Chihuahuas, Shetland Sheepdogs and a Rat Terrier. Her accomplishments include
a total of 29 All Breed High In Trials from various registries, The American Kennel Club,
United Kennel Club, Worldwide Kennel Club
and The Canine Kennel Club. Kris has earned 4 Dog World Awards as well.
Kris added 2 High in Trials at the local AKC Shetland sheepdog Specialties
out of the Novice and Open classes. She and her dogs have been actively
participating on DOCOF teams since 1993. In Conformation Kris has finished
12 AKC Champion Chihuahuas and won 99 Chihuahua Best Of Breeds in multiple
registries. She has won 4 Best In Shows and 4 Reserve Best In Shows at UKC
and CKC. In 2006 Kris campaigned a smoothcoat Chihuahua to #4 in the
country in AKC. Kris currently has a Rat Terrier that is doing very well
at obedience trials and recently won the 1st High in Trial by a Rat Terrier in AKC history.
Jim has been training and exhibiting in conformation and obedience for over 30 years. Jim served as professional handler
for many prominent kennels over the years in AKC conformation events.
He's a member of and
has full professional status with The International Association of Canine Professionals. He has worn many hats
with many clubs, and is currently VP of Florida Siberian Husky Association, a member of the Pomeranian Club
of America, German Shepherd Dog Club of America, SPCA Tampa Bay Sterling Club, and SPCA Tampa Bay Heritage Society. He established
Manitou Mobile K-9 Training Consultants. He is a UKC conformation judge and is currently campaigning two Pomeranians in AKC, UKC, IABCA and UCI
licensed events.
